Mental health services are a growing need in North Texas and throughout the U.S., and the need will continue to grow as the population flourishes.
In 2006, 20 percent of Texans – that’s 4.3 million people – had some form of diagnosable mental health disorder, according to Mental Health America of Texas. Of those, 1.4 million suffered serious mental illness, which impaired their ability to function at work, school and in the community.
Harris
Methodist Springwood Hospital, the mental health and addiction treatment
facility at Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital, is expanding outside of the
H-E-B area to meet the mental health care needs of North Texans. Springwood recently opened two new satellite outpatient treatment centers in Allen and Southlake. The Southlake clinic offers Northeast Tarrant County’s only hospital-based treatment program for adults struggling with eating disorders.
The Allen clinic is one of only two facilities in Collin County to provide structured outpatient services to the area’s 300,000 residents.
Springwood programs are designed for patients who require more intensive treatment than individual therapy but do not require inpatient services. Patients can be referred to the Springwood Behavioral Health Center in Southlake or Allen by a physician, therapist, counselor, an Employee Assistance Program or through self-referral.
