The Business of Health Care Report
According to the “Futurescan 2007” survey on health care trends, 96 percent of the respondents expect the amount that business pays for health benefits for employees will continue to grow at 5 to 10 percent per year. Ninety-eight percent say that businesses will increase the share of those costs paid by the employee.
Helen Darling, president of the National Business Group on Health, says that increased cost sharing is one of the most common actions that employers have taken to control costs and give employees a financial stake in health care decisions. Commenting on the Futurescan survey, she adds that consumers need better information about cost and quality, decision-support tools and assistance navigating the care system during this time of transition to consumer-directed health care.
The EHR marks the beginning of a new era in health care, starting at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and continuing across North Texas in all THR hospitals.
Texas Health Resources recognizes that the health care landscape is changing rapidly. Consumers need trusted advisers to help them navigate the complex environment of care.
Responding to that emerging
need, THR has developed a 10-year strategic focus that we believe will
help us transform the delivery of health care in North Texas. THR’s goal
is to become an integrated provider and coordinator of care – the
trusted adviser that consumers turn to for help in making informed decisions
about their health. In the coming months, you’ll hear more about our 10-year
vision. For Texas Health Resources and its faith-based hospitals – Harris Methodist, Presbyterian and Arlington Memorial – I’m
Doug Hawthorne.
