The Business of Health Care Report
With the school year fast approaching, it’s time for you to ask yourself how the health of your employees’ children affects your bottom line. It’s not something most companies worry about, yet parents taking time off to care for sick children account for a good portion of days missed from the office.
According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, parents with paid time off are five times as likely as other parents to stay home with sick children and more likely to come to work when sick themselves. This leads to a less productive workforce as the sick adult could spread viruses throughout the office.
How can businesses and other organizations help? By educating their employees about topics such as healthy eating habits, environmental factors that affect health, the importance of immunizations, the benefits of basic hand washing, and other health-related topics that impact children.
With many people spending
the majority of their days working, employers have a golden opportunity
to educate a captive audience – their employees – about improving their
