The Business of
Health Care Report
This revitalized new web site addresses some long-awaited health information for Hispanics, about 50% of whom have computers according to published data. In one of my prior reports, we communicated the need for more bilingual health staff in physicians, physician offices and hospitals. Right now, health care in North Texas is not as prepared as it should be to manage the health needs of this important, growing group. So here is a new web site that can help. Log on to TexasHealth.org and click on
health information, where you can choose to receive information about diseases and treatments
in Spanish. This site has been developed and reviewed by
Hispanic physicians who are very excited abou this new tool and how it can assist them in managing
Hispanic patients and communicating about their symptoms, diseases and instructions for self-care.
Human resource professionals and company nurses can use it to communicate with employees. Other information in Spanish on TexasHealth.org
includes facts about hospitals, maps on how to get there, and the ability to search for physicians
who speak Spanish or have Spanish-speaking staff. La Biblioteca de Salud is just one new element of the
revitalized TexasHealth.org site. Visit the health information section to complete your health risk
assessment and personal health record, confidential documents accessible only by your password. These
helpful tools allow you to keep track of your health through the years and have a master record of
health history. Point, click, health! For Texas Health Resources
